How many books do you accept?

If you have 10 books or less, feel free to drop them off during store hours. We will process your books within one week. Please be aware that our inventory space is limited, and we may not purchase any of the books you bring.

If you have more than 10 books, either take a picture or make a list of the books and email us at hello@hiddengembookco.ca. We'll let you know which books interest us, and we reserve the right to decline any titles based on their condition when you bring them in.

What will I receive for my used books?

We sell used books at the following price points:

• $15-20 recent hardcovers,
• $10 recent softcovers,
• $2.50-$5 most children's and tweens

We offer you up to 25% of the selling prices listed above:

• Up to $5 for recent hardcovers
• Up to $2.50 recent softcovers
• Up to $0.50 / $1.25 children's and tweens

These percentages are only for recent books (published within the last two years), in perfect condition and which we believe we can sell quickly. Older or worse condition titles will reduce the percentages.

What is not accepted?

DAMAGED BOOKS: books that smell like smoke, mould, or perfume, water-damaged books, books with excessive writing inside, torn or missing pages, missing dustjackets, library or school books.

OVERSIZE BOOKS: coffee table books, diet books, cookbooks without pictures, travel books, dated books (i.e Guinness Book of World Records), repair manuals, textbook or reference books

Any books that cannot be stocked in the store will be forwarded to local charities, unless you request to have them returned. Books must be picked up within 1 weeks of processing notification.

What can you use your store credit for?

Your store credit can be applied to up to 50% of the cost of anything in the store. The remainder of the credit will stay in your account and can be used the next time.
